Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Academy free?
Yes — all 20 lessons and every technique guide are completely free. No login or subscription required.
Where should a complete beginner start?
Start with the Beginner Level (Lessons 1–5). You'll learn the grid, rules, and complete your first solve in about 45 minutes.
What is a Hidden Single?
A Hidden Single is when a digit can only go in one cell within a row, column, or 3×3 box — even though that cell has multiple apparent candidates. It's one of the most powerful beginner techniques.
What is X-Wing?
X-Wing is an advanced technique where a digit appears in exactly two cells in two rows, aligned in the same two columns. This lets you eliminate that digit from all other cells in those columns.
How long does it take to complete all lessons?
The full course takes approximately 7 hours: Beginner (~45 min), Intermediate (~75 min), Advanced (~120 min), Expert (~180 min). You can pause and resume at any time.
What is the difference between Naked Pairs and Hidden Pairs?
Naked Pairs: two cells in a unit containing only two candidates — eliminate those digits elsewhere in the unit. Hidden Pairs: two digits appear in only two cells of a unit — remove all other candidates from those cells.
