Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Academy free?
- Yes — all 20 lessons and every technique guide are completely free. No login or subscription required.
- Where should a complete beginner start?
- Start with the Beginner Level (Lessons 1–5). You'll learn the grid, rules, and complete your first solve in about 45 minutes.
- What is a Hidden Single?
- A Hidden Single is when a digit can only go in one cell within a row, column, or 3×3 box — even though that cell has multiple apparent candidates. It's one of the most powerful beginner techniques.
- What is X-Wing?
- X-Wing is an advanced technique where a digit appears in exactly two cells in two rows, aligned in the same two columns. This lets you eliminate that digit from all other cells in those columns.
- How long does it take to complete all lessons?
- The full course takes approximately 7 hours: Beginner (~45 min), Intermediate (~75 min), Advanced (~120 min), Expert (~180 min). You can pause and resume at any time.
- What is the difference between Naked Pairs and Hidden Pairs?
- Naked Pairs: two cells in a unit containing only two candidates — eliminate those digits elsewhere in the unit. Hidden Pairs: two digits appear in only two cells of a unit — remove all other candidates from those cells.
