Seasonal Challenges are special, limited-time Sudoku events that run alongside real-world seasons, holidays, and celebrations. Unlike the Daily or Weekly Challenges which have a strict competitive focus, Seasonal Challenges are designed around unique themes, altered puzzle rules (such as Thermo-Sudoku or Killer Sudoku variants), and festive designs.
During a Seasonal event, players might tackle a '12 Days of Sudoku' campaign in December, a spooky puzzle set in October, or a Spring Equinox marathon. These challenges often feature custom-designed grid shapes, themed number sets, or interactive meta-puzzles where solving individual Sudoku grids unlocks clues to a larger mystery.
Participating in Seasonal Challenges is the only way to earn exclusive Seasonal Badges for your profile. Once a season ends, those specific badges are vaulted and can never be earned again, making them rare markers of your long-term participation in the MySudokuWorld community.
We are planning several distinct types of seasonal events. 'Holiday Marathons' will challenge players to solve a high volume of Easy or Medium puzzles over a holiday weekend. 'Thematic Variants' will introduce new rulesets — for example, a Valentine's Day challenge where certain cells must sum to 14, or a St. Patrick's Day grid featuring hidden clovers.
In addition to solo play, some Seasonal Challenges will involve community goals. The entire MySudokuWorld player base might be tasked with collectively solving 100,000 puzzles over a weekend to unlock a global XP multiplier or a special theme for all active participants.
Event durations will vary. Minor holidays might feature a 48-hour event, while major seasons (like Summer or Winter) could feature month-long campaigns with staggered puzzle releases.
No, all core Seasonal Challenge content will be free to access for registered players.
Seasonal Challenges have their own separate leaderboards and do not impact your standard Daily or Weekly competitive rankings, allowing you to enjoy the themes without competitive pressure.
The puzzles themselves may be added to a 'Past Events' archive for practice, but the exclusive badges and rewards can only be earned during the active event window.
