Head-to-Head Challenge

Challenge a friend or a random opponent to a 1v1 Sudoku duel. Both players get the same grid — first to solve it wins.

This feature is currently in active development. We are working hard to bring you the best Sudoku experience possible.

The Ultimate 1v1 Sudoku Experience

Sudoku is traditionally a solitary experience, but the Head-to-Head Challenge mode transforms it into a tense, real-time battle of logic and speed. In this upcoming multiplayer mode, you and an opponent are given identical Sudoku grids and a synchronized countdown. The objective is simple: be the first player to successfully fill the grid without errors.

To prevent blind guessing, the multiplayer system employs a strict validation mechanic. If you submit a completed grid with errors, you will incur a time penalty (e.g., a 10-second freeze) before you can correct your mistakes and resubmit. This ensures that pure logical deduction remains the primary path to victory, rather than trial and error.

You will be able to see your opponent's overall progress bar filling up in real-time as they place correct digits, adding a psychological layer to the match. Will you panic when you see them surge ahead, or maintain your focus on the grid?

Ranked vs Casual Play

The Challenge mode will support both Casual and Ranked matchmaking. In Casual play, you can invite specific friends via a shareable link or challenge recent opponents for a friendly rematch without affecting your global stats.

Ranked play utilizes an Elo-style matchmaking rating (MMR) system. You will be paired against opponents of similar skill across different difficulty brackets. Winning matches increases your MMR, allowing you to climb through competitive tiers from Bronze up to Grandmaster. Ranked matches strictly disable all hints and require precise, fast candidate tracking.
